Sleeping on the beach

Hey everybody, Ben and I are sleeping on the beach tonight not really supposed to be here but with luck the life guards won't come by. We are about 80 miles from San Diego now. Left yesterday and road 50 miles to Oceanside CA. Stayed with another really great couple named Mark and Sara. We left them around 11am our time road down the ocean bike path for a while till we came across a group of slackliners stayed there for 3 hours or so, talking and playing. That ate up a lot of the day but whatever we got no place to be. Right after we left we ran into Bike Across America, which turns out is a race from here to Maryland the fatest dude will do it in 9 days sleeping only 2-3 hours a night. Anyway tomorrow it's on to LA we think, not to far from there now. Hope everyone is doing great we love you all.

HI everyone! This is my first post on our blog. (Ben) Phil's allready pretty much summed it up, but i thought i'd say hello. Above Cedar Creek Falls-- the spot we hiked to yesterday.

Anyway I am psyched for an epic journey. It's started out amazingly-- mostly thanks to our couch surfing hosts Matt and Kim. I got to jump of a cliff into an oasis on my first day! That's got to be a good sign... Nonetheless, I'm itchy to get on my bike. It looks so beautiful-- calling to me from across the room. The road is ahead and the everywhere is my home.

Peace and Love ~Ben

Kickin it in the SD

We are still in San Diego. Hangin out with Matt and Kim. Really cool people. Matt recently road 6500 miles across the country. Yesterday they took us you out to this amazing water fall about 1.5 hours from SD. It was basically in the desert. We walked for two miles through rock and sand down this mountain until we came to this oasis with a 90 foot water fall and this incredible pool at the bottom. There was a rope swing and rocks to jump off of. It was great. Today we have been packing our bikes and getting ready for tomorrow the journey begins. We'll keep in touch, good thoughts y'all.

The Start of our Journey

Well this is the first post of many to come, Ben and I have our stuff together and we are leaving our respective states (Ben=New Hampshire) (Phil=Missouri) tomorrow June 16th. We are starting our journey from San Diego, CA. and ending in Seattle, WA. Ben will be getting here around noon time, and I will be in around midnight. We found to cool people to stay with named Matt and Kim, they live not too far from the airport. Ben and I are both couch surfers and we are going to be surfing our way up the coast. We found a bike shop that is 3 miles from the airport that we shipped our bikes to early last week. They are cool with us shipping them the bikes and then us putting them to together there. The bike shop is San Diego Bike Shop, (sdbikeshop.com). Check them out they seem like cool people. I've got some pictures of my stuff that I will be putting up latter.
Wise us luck,
Ben and Phil
